Omer 42 – Malchut in Yesod

omer42

The number 42 in gematria (the ‘spiritual geometry’ of Torah) is significant as it is the joining (‘chibur’) of the number 6 (which represents the idea of ‘groom’) and the number 7 (which connects to the concept of ‘bride.’)

When these two are connected,  as they were originally at the time of creation and will be again one day, (i.e., Zechariah 14:9) it corresponds to the concept of “The Name of G-d being One.” This connection ‘opens the spiritual gate’ for G-d’s ‘sustenance’ (Hebrew: shefa) to ‘flow’ freely to the earth.

It is also interesting to note that in the satirical science-fiction book, “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy,” the, “Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything,” was 42.  No explanation was ever given in the book or by the author.
