Chesed represents the ‘pro-active’ element among the middot. Yesod, the element of ‘connecting.’
Today’s Omer relates to taking the steps to connect to others. This is establishing ‘foundation’ – the literal meaning of Yesod, also known as the pillar on which the world is established. It is, ‘the Divine will to bestow upon others.’
“You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.”
